The first building in Québec to be designated a historic monument, Château Ramezay offers a journey through 500 years of Montréal history, complemented by a New France–style garden.
Built in 1705 for Claude de Ramezay, then governor of Montreal, this building served many purposes before becoming a museum in 1895 — one of Quebec's oldest private history museums. Selected by a team of experts in collaboration with UNESCO as one of the "1001 historic sites to see before you die," it features permanent and temporary exhibitions, a multimedia tour available in six languages, and the Governor's Garden, a recreation of an 18th-century urban garden in New France, complete with a terrace welcoming visitors during the summer months.
