Magasin général Dumulon

Dumulon General Store holds a foundational place in the history of Rouyn-Noranda, a city established less than a century ago in 1926, following the mining boom that rapidly transformed this corner of Abitibi through the combined forces of railway expansion and intensive mineral prospecting. Founded in 1924 by the Dumulon family on the shores of Lake Osisko, this authentic business served as both a general store and post office—essential services for the emerging community that would quickly become, spurred by the Gordon Plan introduced by the federal government in 1929 to encourage settler colonization of new lands, one of the most dynamic urban centers in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
