Linking several fjord-side villages from June to September, cruises and maritime shuttles offer a unique perspective on the Saguenay's cliffs, inaccessible by road along several stretches of the route.
Saguenay Fjord cruises and water shuttles allow you to truly grasp from the water the scale of this glacial corridor, whose most impressive rock walls — particularly those surrounding Éternité Bay, where Cap Trinité rises to 412 metres — can only be fully appreciated from the waterway itself. These excursions, operated by several certified companies between June and September, typically connect the villages of La Baie, L'Anse-Saint-Jean, Rivière-Éternité and sometimes Tadoussac, thus offering a transportation and discovery option complementary to the road network which, in certain fjord sectors, strays considerably from the shoreline. Onboard commentary, generally available in French and English, addresses both the fjord's spectacular geology, its settlement history, and the marine biodiversity that thrives there, including the possibility of observing harbour seals and, in the Baie-Sainte-Marguerite sector, belugas that frequent the shallow, nutrient-rich waters of this fjord arm. The statue of Notre-Dame-du-Saguenay, erected at the summit of Cap Trinité at 192 metres high in tribute to a traveller who allegedly survived ice-crossing providentially in the 19th century, stands as one of the most photographed landmarks by cruise passengers, whose route offers a viewing angle impossible to obtain from the terrestrial viewpoints of the national park.
