Réserve naturelle des Demoiselles and the Anse-à-la-Cabane Lighthouse

Demoiselles Hill, whose soft and rounded forms inspired its evocative name, is one of the most distinctive geological formations on Havre Aubert Island, now protected as a nature reserve thanks to its acquisition by the Îles-de-la-Madeleine Conservation Society. Chemin d'en Haut, a scenic route skirting the base of these hills, is lined with traditional houses exemplifying authentic Magdalen Islands architecture, offering a picturesque journey that showcases both the built heritage and natural landscape characteristic of this southern portion of the archipelago. Nearby, the Anse-à-la-Cabane lighthouse, one of the oldest throughout the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, still stands sentinel over the fishing port and surrounding landscape from its strategic vantage point, having long served as an essential landmark for the countless vessels navigating these treacherous Gulf of Saint Lawrence waters.
