An archipelago of islands built up in the St. Lawrence, host of the 1967 World's Fair and today a public park home to the Biosphère, the Formula 1 racetrack, and La Ronde amusement park.
Île Sainte-Hélène, fortified by the British in the 19th century, and Île Notre-Dame, entirely created from excavation materials from Montreal's metro system for Expo 67, together form a vast recreational space. The site hosted the 1967 World's Fair, a pivotal event in Montreal's history that thrust the city onto the international stage during the Quiet Revolution. Today, the park combines urban beaches, scenic trails, the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit (home to the Canadian Grand Prix Formula 1 race), and direct access to the Biosphere.
