The Outaouais is a region where wild nature meets the urban and cultural life of Gatineau, twin city to Ottawa. Gatineau Park, a vast forest at the capital's doorstep, blazes with colour in autumn and fills with ski trails in winter. The Ottawa River and its tributaries are paradise for kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Ottawa's national museums are just minutes from Gatineau, offering a unique cultural experience at the border of Canada's two official languages.
