Parc Marie-Victorin

Created in 1985 in tribute to the father of modern Québec botany, a native of Kingsey Falls, this garden-museum stands out for its spectacular three-dimensional mosaiculture sculptures and its collection of 1,200 carnivorous plants, complemented since 2025 by a new museum devoted to Québec heritage.

Parc Marie-Victorin pays tribute to Brother Marie-Victorin, a pioneer of scientific botany in Quebec born in Kingsey Falls in 1885, whose groundbreaking work profoundly shaped our understanding of Laurentian flora in the early twentieth century. Created in 1985 to commemorate the botanist's centennial, the garden has progressively expanded to become one of Quebec's largest botanical gardens, spread across six kilometres of trails through seven themed gardens where over 60,000 annual plants flourish. The site's most spectacular feature remains its three-dimensional mosaic culture sculptures—giant living artworks depicting insects and other organic forms whose technical creation demands considerable horticultural expertise and whose periodic renewal keeps regular visitors enchanted. The Mysterious Carnivores pathway, showcasing the park's collection of 1,200 carnivorous plants through giant traps and an engaging family multimedia quest, enriches the site's educational and recreational offerings. In 2025, the park unveiled a new museum presenting multiple exhibitions celebrating Quebec's cultural heritage, including an exhibition dedicated to Alain Lemaire's cast iron collection, co-founder of the Cascades company headquartered nearby in Kingsey Falls, forging an unexpected thematic bridge between botany, art, and regional industrial history, all framed by the picturesque Nicolet River that adds to the charm of this beloved family destination.
