Bioparc de la Gaspésie

Open since 1998, this educational wildlife park showcases about forty species native to Québec across five recreated Gaspésie ecosystems, complemented by an insectarium and the unique opportunity to spend the night alongside wolves.

Since its opening in 1998, the Bioparc de la Gaspésie has been driven by an resolutely educational and ecological mission, presenting through a roughly one-kilometer trail the five characteristic ecosystems of the Gaspé Peninsula — the bay, the barachois, the river, the forest and the tundra — where around forty indigenous animal species such as wolves, black bears, lynx, otters and seals thrive in installations faithful to their respective natural habitats. Successive investments totaling several million dollars, notably government grants obtained in 2007 and 2009, have allowed the park to significantly modernize its exhibition infrastructure, which notably saw its attendance jump by more than 20% in 2010 to reach a peak of 28,000 annual visitors. The Quebec Amphibians and Reptiles Pavilion as well as the insectarium, boasting an impressive collection of living and mounted specimens, complement the site's educational offerings, while the immersive nocturnal experience Sleep with the Wolves, combining an overnight stay in a trapper's cabin, dinner featuring Gaspesian flavors and a morning safari, is one of the most distinctive and memorable activities offered by the establishment, which also rents oceanside chalets to extend your stay.
